Michelle has had numerous opportunities to share her IT and project management expertise with others through her consulting practice, coaching, teaching and writing. She has coached CIOs, CFOs, COOs, CEOs, IT managers and staff, directors of PMOs, and project sponsors in the manufacturing, telecommunications, transportation, retail, publishing, healthcare and not-for-profit sectors.
Solutions in these arenas have included new product development and launch, implementation of new systems and upgrades, process re-engineering for efficiency, cost reduction and addressable market expansion, strategic initiative management, vendor selection and management, project and IT department health and capability assessments. Michelle has worked with fast-moving organizations in every stage of business life and scale – from local technology start ups to global Fortune 1000 Corporations. Her past clients have included organizations such as Chaordix, Cenovus Energy, Accruent/Evoco, SkyService Airlines, and Hachette Publishing. She has also worked for Ericsson, Interactive Media Group (now Lavalife), Sprint Canada. She began her consulting career with Accenture in 1995 where she focused on process design for telecommunications.
In the academic world, Michelle has been a teacher and a writer. At Ryerson University, Michelle planned and delivered course content to over 500 students in the disciplines of project management, e-commerce, business process design, IT Law and introductory IT. Michelle is also a contributor and co-author of project management and IT related publications including Project Fog: How Smart Organizations Select and Manage Their Most Strategic Projects and three editions of Introduction to Business Information Systems. The most recent edition has become a best-selling university textbook in Canada.
Michelle holds a B. Comm. and a B.A. in Sociology from The University of Calgary. She has been a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2002. A mother of two active boys, she applies her considerable organizational talents to supporting their accomplishments and various community initiatives.
